BIOAGAVES
TEPIC NAYARIT
BACKGROUND
In 2008, a group of 240 agave growers conformed seven rural production cooperatives under one umbrella, with the express purpose of finding a solution to a major problem: What to do with extremely mature agave plants.

The solution did imply a sustainable project, which could guarantee the utilization of agave at that moment, and into the future, so a new industry could emerge. The answer was to build a production plant to process and bring to the market a diverse range of agave derivatives such as tequila, agave syrup and inulin. |

INTEGRATION THROUGH BEST GROUND
In August 2009 this umbrella organization invited Best Ground to participate in a joint venture to develop a worldwide commercial distribution network for their products.
Best Ground determined that the leading strength of the growers was the fact that all were producing organic agave, which provided a strong opportunity in the maturing organic markets in North America, South America, and Western Europe. This opportunity, coupled with the expertise of Best Ground in working with the Mexican government at the local, state and federal levels to help support the endeavor, provided fertile ground for the modern commercialization of the agave industry in Mexico.
By July 2010, the evolution from concept to design to implementation was evidenced by the completion of the factory. The facility was working and producing agave syrup by the end of that month. |
